Why Choose a Non-Executive

Non-executive directors (NEDs) are more important than ever for bringing in fresh, unbiased guidance to companies or organisations of all sizes. NED’s provides you with diversity and allow your organisation to remain dynamic and ensures that you don’t become stale and industry focused.

What’s the Benefit to my Company

The Tyson Report, which was commissioned by the London Business School says “Optimising board membership is vital for company performance and competitiveness. It can also pay an important role in restoring shareholder and public trust in UK board rooms.” NED’s bring experience, an approach that isn’t coloured by history or internal politics and a challenging attitude toward complacency.

What else do they bring

Often the boards of UK companies are accused of having “Glass Floors”. Most UK boards are made up of Wasp’s (White Anglo Saxon Protestants). Because of this, the view of work place minorities are rarely heard at board level. The representation of women on UK boards is low. Women make up almost halve of the UK working population and understanding what motivates them is key to ensuring success from a work force. Ethnic minorities are also badly represented at board level. Failing to understand the motivations in a large section of the potential work force will damage your business. When racial or sexual discrimination claims are made against companies, one of the measures a tribunal will make is, does this organisation accurately reflect its employee base at board level. If you don’t then your case will be weaker.
